    Safety

Safety glass, which will be either toughened or laminated, depending on where and how it is being used, protects from the risk of serious injury caused by accidental breakage or impact. When it breaks, it breaks safely.

Types of safety glass have different benefits:

    • Toughened glass fractures into small relatively blunt fragments upon failure, preventing cutting and piercing injuries associated with large shards of annealed glass.
    • Laminated glass contains a polymeric interlayer, designed to retain sections of glass in the event of fracture, and so prevent shards separating from the main body of the glass. Laminated glass also provides an enhanced level of protection where there is a change in level, and so a risk of falling, or where there is a potential for objects to fall from height onto occupied areas below.

The type and level of safety can vary from one project to the next. Saint-Gobain Glass always recommend seeking advice from one our Technical Specification Managers (TSM) before you proceed with a particular glass type.

    Sustainability

Saint-Gobain Glass is leading the industry in the design and manufacture of sustainable building glass.

    LITE-WALL ISO

LITE-WALL ISO is a point-fixed system for insulated glazing units

The patented point fixing allows the outer pane of the IGU to remain uninterrupted. The inner pane, through which the bolt is fixed, is laminated safety glass comprising two sheets of tempered safety glass.

    Description

The fittings are designed to transfer wind pressure and suction loads as well as the self-weight of the unit back to the structure. LITE-WALL ISO is now also certified as blast-enhanced to ISO 16933 “Glass in Building – Explosion resistant security glazing – Test and classification for arena air blast loading”.

    Range

The non-drilled outer pane of glass can be a coated glass product to provide thermal insulation or solar control properties. Screen-printed outer panes are also possible.

    Standard composition
Outer sheet: 8 mm SECURIT tempered safety glass, coated
Cavity: 12 mm air filled with stainless steel warm edge spacer bar
Inner sheet: 14 mm STADIP laminated safety glass comprising: 8 mm SECURIT / 0.76 mm PVB-Interlayer / 6 mm SECURIT
Black stainless steel warm edge spacer bar is used as the standard cavity spacer bar providing improved thermal insulation when compared to conventional aluminium spacer bars.

    Benefits

    Unobtrusive, flush appearance

LITE-WALL ISO contributes to the creation of all-glass assemblies and innovative projects. With LITE-WALL ISO, the glass is not set in frames like traditional constructions, but held in place by point-fixings which do not penetrate the outer pane of the IGU, thus creating innovative aesthetic all-glass facades.

    Enhanced acoustic and thermal insulation

Since the bolts do not penetrate the outer pane of the IGU, this improves the thermal performance of the unit because there is no cold bridging via the bolt from one side to the other. The acoustic performance of the IGU is also improved and the unit is more weathertight.

    Maximum transparency

All-glass structures can be created, ensuring interiors are generously provided with natural light. When refurbishing older buildings, the clarity of the glass allows the original structure to be exposed in its true form.

Applied onto SGG PLANICLEAR clear glass or SGG PARSOL body-tinted glass during the manufacture of the glass on the float line, the coating is fused by pyrolysis, which gives it a number of properties:

    • Total integration with the surface of the glass
    • Strength and stability over time, so the coating can be positioned on the outer face (face 1) or the inner face (face 2) of the glass
    • Solar control properties and a reflective appearance

    Range

    Four different variations:

    • SGG ANTELIO CLEAR on SGG PLANICLEAR clear glass
    • SGG ANTELIO SILVER on SGG PLANICLEAR clear glass
    • SGG ANTELIO EMERALD on SGG PARSOL GREEN body-tinted glass
    • SGG ANTELIO BRONZE on SGG PARSOL BRONZE body-tinted glass

All the products can be used in façades, with the coating on face 1 or face 2:

    • On face 1, the façade has a more reflective and uniform appearance producing true and vibrant reflections of the surrounding environment
    • On face 2, its appearance and reflection is generally softer and the colour of the base glass is more apparent and accentuates the features of the façade

    Applications

    • Offices and commercial buildings
    • Schools and industrial buildings
    • Apartment blocks

SGG ANTELIO glass can be used in most types of façade:

    • Windows in traditional façades
    • Curtain walling
    • Exterior structural sealant glazing
    • Exterior glass bolted assemblies
    • Double-glazed applications (coating on face 2 or on face 1)

    ADVANTAGES

    • High light transmittance: good natural lighting of internal areas
    • Reduces solar heat gain: savings in air conditioning
    • Many design options for architects: increased architectural creativity using curved, enamelled or screen-printed SGG ANTELIO

    SGG BIOCLEAN® Aqua

Aqua tinted roof glass with high performance solar control coating and low-maintenance self-cleaning.

Pleasant and relaxing aqua-green appearance to complement both your interior and the surrounding natural tones of your garden.

    Description

SGG BIOCLEAN AQUA is particularly suited to conservatory roof applications where access to cleaning is either difficult or dangerous. It also allows for greater use of glass in roofs, by helping to reduce glare and excessive heat build-up where it is needed the most.

    ADVANTAGES

Solar Protection:  SGG BIOCLEAN AQUA can block up to 78% of heat generated from the sun when combined with SGG PLANITHERM 4S four seasons glass in conservatory roof areas.

Thermal Insulation: Reduced heat loss by combining with SGG PLANITHERM TOTAL+ to give a low U-value of 1.2W/m2K or SGG PLANITHERM 4S glass which provides an exceptionally low U-value of 1.0W/m2K.

Energy Efficient Glass: combining SGG BIOCLEAN AQUA with our SGG PLANITHERM range of energy efficient glass helps to reduce the need for additional heating and cooling, making conservatories more comfortable whilst protecting the environment and saving you money.

Low Maintenance:  SGG BIOCLEAN self-cleaning glass means windows need less frequent cleaning, making it ideal for hard to reach places, such as conservatory roofs. The permanent self-cleaning coating stays on the glass for the lifetime of the window, reducing the time and cost of window cleaning and the hydrophilic action stops droplets forming meaning clear vision through the window, even when it's raining.

SGG BIOCLEAN uses photocatalytic and hydrophilic properties to break down and wash away dirt from the surface of the glass allowing for less frequent cleaning.
